Our vision is to make human beings use electrical energy better. We adhere to our mission of "efficiency first" and aspire to be the most trusted power company in the world. We are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, to pushing the limits, and to creating value for the advancement of human society through a philosophy of efficient use of natural resources.
Powerland Group is a leading power conversion company, providing full service and solutions for electric vehicles, industrial, medical and other high-end power electronics applications, where efficiency, reliability, lifetime, and power density are the primary challenges. Under the leadership of power electronics scientists from one of the top research laboratories in the world, CPES-Virginia Tech, Powerland has become the largest power electronics design house in China. Powerland is globally recognized and respected as an innovative high-technology, reliable and capable firm in customizing robust and unique power supplies.
Dr. Ming Xu, Founder and CEO of Powerland. Dr. Xu has served as the chief scientist of the American Power Electronics Research Center (CPES) at Virginia Tech University and an associate professor at Virginia Tech University. He is a well-known expert in the field of global power electronics and energy management, and has the top technology and long-term vision in the industry. In 2009, Dr. Xu Ming returned to China and founded Powerland. The core founding team of the company is mainly from CPES . After more than ten years of development, Powerland has grown into a high-tech enterprise in the field of power electronics, which is the leader in the research & development and manufacturing of power conversion equipment in China. Dr. Xu Ming received his doctorate from Zhejiang University. He is a visiting professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University. He is senior member of IEEE. He has more than 60 US patents, published more than 150 academic papers and authored 3 academic works.
In 2009, Dr. Xu Ming led four doctors from the VRM research team of the National Power Electronics Research Center (CPES) of the United States - Sun Julu, Qiu Yang, Sun Juan, and Wang Chuanyun to jointly establish Powerland. Five founding team members, including Dr. Xu Ming, have worked closely together during their stay in the United States. At present, the team members has cooperated with each other for 22 yeras and the power supply scheme of each CPU in the world is based on a series of research results of the team. Over the last 13 years from the establishment of Powerland, Ms. Xu Lihong, Mr. Yao Yuan, Mr. Wei Jukui and Mr. Xu Jianbing have successively joined the partner team.
Initiator of Jiangsu Power Supply Society
University Cooperation of Powerland has three major aspects: cooperation on research projects; post-doctoral research station; on-site PhD programs. Powerland has conducted research-type projects with leading universities in United States and China, including Virginia Tech, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) since 2007. And such cooperation is getting enhanced yearly.
Since 2009, Powerland has been approved as Post-doctoral research station in Jiangsu province: generous benefit is provided to PhD graduates to do research in Powerland. In addition, CEO Dr. Ming Xu is invited as guest professor of XJTU and NUAA, at which position Dr. Ming Xu can guide doctoral students on-site for their better industrial experience.
Together with many elites graduated from Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES), Virginia Tech, Dr. Ming Xu would like to introduce several fundamental courses and hand-on workshops that are critical to the skill improvement for power supply design engineers. Those enlightening education series are based on sound theories and, the most unique part, innovative research results by the team of Dr. Ming Xu at CPES. As the first engineering research center, CPES is famous for its tight cooperation with the industry. Many concepts developed by CPES research activities are widely adopted in the industry, such as the multi-phase concept, coupled inductor and so on.
The education opportunities at Powerland cover modeling and control, power semiconductor, EMI reduction, and other advanced design techniques.
Powerland provides Fundamental Class series and Workshop series. The former will give more theoretic analysis and lecturing, while the latter gives more hand-on lab experiences.
